A key member of our Dispute Resolution team in Glasgow, Ryan is a Solicitor working alongside Partners, Lauren Rae, John Kydd and Robin Beattie.

Ryan regularly represents individuals and organisations in courts across Scotland in both civil and criminal litigation matters, including matters concerning contractual disputes, criminal defence, consumer rights, professional negligence, debt recovery, construction disputes, public law and data protection breaches.   He has a particular interest in criminal defence, public law, construction, commercial litigation and defamation, with a particular focus on social media.

Ryan has had a varied career before qualifying as a lawyer, which includes insurance claims, politics and further education.  He is an experienced charity director and is instructed by non-profit organisations to provide advice and representation on disputes and governance. He has chaired the board of a large, high-profile charity for a number of years and sits on the board of two other organisations. During his legal studies, Ryan worked at the Scottish Parliament, building a working knowledge of public law at both a local and national level. He is consulted on potential judicial reviews and challenges to decisions of Councils and other administrative bodies.  

Ryan completed his traineeship with Thorntons after graduating with a First Class Law Degree from the University of Strathclyde and a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice with Merit from the University of Glasgow.
