Slavery and human trafficking statement.
Thorntons is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.
We are committed to ensuring there is transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout our supply chains, consistent with our disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We expect the same high standards from all our contractors, suppliers and other business partners, and as part of our contracting processes, we include specific prohibitions against the use of forced, compulsory or trafficked labour, or anyone held in slavery or servitude, whether adults or children, and we expect that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.
Training on our modern slavery policy forms part of our induction process for all colleagues and regular update training is also provided to raise awareness of the modern slavery issues, how to spot the signs and what to do if they have any suspicions. Our commitment to addressing the issue of modern slavery and human trafficking is built into our new supplier process and is communicated to all suppliers, contractors and business partners at the outset of any potential business relationship and reinforced as appropriate thereafter.
We maintain a consistent, compliant and transparent approach to modern-slavery due diligence by embedding mandatory checks into our supplier onboarding process, including checking whether all prospective suppliers have an appropriate modern slavery policy or statement. All new employees and partners undergo verification through an approved third-party screening service.
We provide all colleagues access to a confidential and anonymous helpline environment to raise any concerns about wrongdoing or misconduct.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our Modern Slavery Statement for the financial year ending 31 May 2026. It was approved by the Board on 3 March 2026.
