Audrey Dishington

Independent Scottish law firm Thorntons has been appointed by the Judicial Factor to manage the wills, property titles and powers of attorney previously held by Brunton Miller, following the closure of the Glasgow and Helensburgh-based law practice in October 2025. 

Thorntons will also assume responsibility for ongoing executry work.

As one of Scotland’s largest full-service legal firms, Thorntons has an extensive private client practice, with specialist expertise in wills, trusts, powers of attorney, executry administration and succession planning. 

STEP Appointments

Two Thorntons lawyers have been elected to global steering committees for the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), reinforcing the firm’s expertise in complex, cross-border private client work.

Claire Newton

Working alongside Chris Gardiner, Stephanie Pratt and their teams in our Dundee office, Claire is a Legal Director in our Private Client team.

Claire specialises in all aspects of estate administration, supporting individuals and families through both testate and intestate executries. She also advises clients on inheritance tax and obtaining Confirmation (Scottish probate). Claire has a particular interest in the Scottish forced heirship rules (Legal Rights). 

Kiran Bahia

Working alongside Partner Stephanie Pratt, Kiran is a Solicitor in our Private Client team.

Kiran advises individuals and families on a wide range of private client matters including Wills, Powers of Attorney and Executry Administration.

Kiran is committed to delivering excellent client care and is known for her personable approach. She also speaks Punjabi.

Kiran is a Notary Public and a member of the Law Society of Scotland.
 

Georgia Coull

Georgia is a second seat Trainee Solicitor in our Private Client team in Edinburgh. She completed her first seat in Commercial Real Estate.

Georgia graduated with a First Class Honours in Scots Law (LLB) from the University of Aberdeen and completed her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow.

Before commencing her traineeship, Georgia volunteered at her local Citizens Advice Bureau where she provided guidance on legal matters relating to housing, employment and family law.

Lauren Denton

Lauren is a second seat Trainee Solicitor in our Private Client team. She completed her first seat in Corporate Ventures & Innovations.

She studied at the University of Glasgow and worked as a Legal Analyst in our Corporate Ventures & Innovation team before starting her traineeship.

Lauren is particularly interested in Corporate Law and strives to deliver excellent client care.
 

Emma Nicol

Emma is a Solicitor in our Edinburgh Private Client team.

Working alongside Emma Horne, Emma advises a wide range of clients on Wills, Powers of Attorney and Executries. Providing excellent care is very important to Emma and she is known for her friendly manner.

Emma is currently working towards her STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) qualification and is due to qualify in December 2026.

Louise McGregor

Working alongside Sarah Mitchell and Stephanie Pratt, Louise is a Solicitor in our Perth Private Client team. 

Louise advises clients on a wide range of matters including the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney, trust administration and set-up, tax, and succession planning. She also works closely with Thorntons trust team on the creation and administration of family trusts.

Louise has a particular interest in assisting our rural clients in managing their affairs.

Lindsay Younie

Lindsay is a dedicated Private Client Solicitor based in St Andrews and Cupar. She assists individuals and families to plan for their future with the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney. Working alongside colleagues Ross Cargill and Rachel Anderson, Lindsay offers clients comprehensive expert advice and practical solutions that bring security and peace of mind to their personal affairs.

Caroline Mitchell

Caroline has a BA Hons degree in Marketing from Glasgow Caledonian University and is also an Accredited Paralegal, having gained her accreditation from Strathclyde University. As part of our Private Client team, Caroline assists clients with Wills, Powers of Attorney and Executries and ensures they are prepared for planning for later life.
