Lindsay Younie

Lindsay is a dedicated Private Client Solicitor based in St Andrews and Cupar. She assists individuals and families to plan for their future with the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney. Working alongside colleagues Ross Cargill and Rachel Anderson, Lindsay offers clients comprehensive expert advice and practical solutions that bring security and peace of mind to their personal affairs.

Oliver Ramsay

Oliver is a second second Trainee Solicitor in the Private Client team. He commenced his Training Contract in June 2024 and completed his first seat in Residential Conveyancing. 

Oliver graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, where he developed a strong foundation in legal principles. Prior to embarking upon a legal career, Oliver spent time travelling in Australia.

Caroline Mitchell

Caroline has a BA Hons degree in Marketing from Glasgow Caledonian University and is also an Accredited Paralegal, having gained her accreditation from Strathclyde University. As part of our Private Client team, Caroline assists clients with Wills, Powers of Attorney and Executries and ensures they are prepared for planning for later life.

Anne Cameron

Anne is a Specialist Paralegal working alongside Alan Roughead and Sarah Mitchell in our Private Client team in Perth. Anne assists clients with the preparation of their Wills, Powers of Attorney and is also involved the Executry Administration process dealing with the Confirmation applications in both testate and intestate cases. Anne also assists with the financial management for some of our elderly clients in the Perthshire area.

Adam Hoggan

Adam is an experienced Senior Solicitor based in our Perth office, specialising in all areas of Private Client including Wills, Powers of Attorney, Trusts, and Executries.

After graduating from Edinburgh University, Adam completed his traineeship with an established law firm in Dundee. He is committed to helping our clients with planning for later life and has recently completed his fourth and final exam towards the prestigious STEP Diploma in Trusts and Estates. 

Sarah Mitchell

Sarah is a Partner in our specialist Private Client Team based in our Perth office, where she provides expert advice on a wide range of Private Client matters. She advises individuals and families on all aspects of estate and succession planning, including the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney, the administration of Executries, and the creation and management of Trusts. Her approachable, empathetic, and practical style is consistently valued by clients, particularly when navigating complex and sensitive legal issues.

Alan Roughead

Alan is a specialist in the Private Client field and advises clients on a variety of issues including the preparation of Wills, Estate planning, asset protection and Executry administration.

He advises regularly on the creation and administration of Trusts, Charities and on adults with incapacity issues, in particular in the preparation of Powers of Attorney and obtaining Guardianship Orders. He administers the Trust for the Trustees of the Betty Ross Foundation and also the Sinclair Trust, and is also on the Board of the Crossroads charity.

Ellen Hunter

A Solicitor in our specialist Private Client team, Ellen works alongside Partner Stephanie Pratt.

She advises individuals and families on a range of personal matters, from the drafting and preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney, to care costs, tax planning and the Executry administration process in Scotland.

Ellen is well known for her prompt response and excellent attention to detail, which is appreciated by clients at what can often be a difficult time.

Rachel Murphy

Rachel is a second seat Trainee Solicitor in the Private Client team. She commenced her Training Contract in September 2024 and completed her first seat in Land & Rural Business.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice from the University of Glasgow, and completed an LLM in International and European Law, with a specialisation in Human Rights Law from the University of Gent in Belgium.  

Katie Brown

Katie is a second seat Trainee Solicitor in the Private Client team. She joined Thorntons in September 2024 and completed her first seat in Personal Injury.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice from the University of Dundee, and previously gained a Bachelor of Arts with Honors, in English studies and Spanish from the University of Stirling.
