Record £62k sum raised for Cash for Kids

Scotland’s leading full service law firm Thorntons has donated £62,000 to Cash for Kids through its annual Charity Wills month, thanks to generous clients.

The initiative runs throughout September each year and applies to new or updated Wills written during the month. The firm does not charge a fee but instead asks clients to make an equivalent donation to Cash for Kids.

In 21 years of running a Charity Wills Campaign, leading law firm Thorntons has raised £320,000 for Cash for Kids and achieved its biggest ever fundraising total to date this year for causes across Tayside and Fife.

Internal career development encouraged as law firm promotes new partner

Leading Scottish law firm Thorntons started the New Year by appointing a new partner for its Dundee operation, amid an exciting planning period of fresh investment.

Lorna Christine, from Dunfermline, has been an associate within Thorntons’ Private Client Department for two years and has this month been promoted to Partner.

Sue Arrowsmith Rodger

Sue has been assisting individuals and families in Fife with their legal needs since 2005, and has been practicing law since completing her honours legal degree and diploma at the University of Aberdeen in 2002.  She is a solicitor and notary public and also has a joint honours degree in Accountancy.

Stuart Mackie

Stuart is an Associate in our Angus Team.

He joined the firm in 2008 and gained over six years experience as a court lawyer, dealing with a whole range of disputes from criminal defence to contract disputes. Over the last few years Stuart has been providing private client services to our Angus clients. He has a broad experience base and is well placed to advise our individual and corporate clients on a whole range of matters.

Stephanie Pratt

Stephanie advises clients throughout Fife, Perthshire and further afield in all aspects of succession planning. Not only does Stephanie advise clients on Wills and Powers of Attorney she works closing with our Agricultural team advising farmers and land owners on their succession planning needs.

Stephanie also has a keen interest in advising trustees of both private and charitable trusts along with dealing with taxation issues for both trusts and individuals. She is also involved in assisting elderly clients manage their finances.

Rachel High

Based in Dundee, Rachel is a Senior Solicitor in our busy Private client team. She advises individuals and families on a range of matters including Will drafting, Powers of Attorney, Succession Planning and executry administration.

Rachel studied at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2013 and receiving her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice in 2014 from the University of Dundee.

Rachel Anderson

Rachel is a Senior Solicitor in our Private Client team in St Andrews.

She advises individuals and families on a range of issues including the drafting of Wills, Powers of Attorney, Executries, inheritance tax planning, and asset protection. Rachel’s considered and sensitive approach is welcomed by many clients and has resulted in her client base and reputation growing across Fife and Dundee.

Nick Barclay

With more than 30 years experience in the legal profession, Nick is regarded as one Scotland’s most able practitioners in the fields of Wills, Trusts, Executries, Inheritance Tax planning and law relating to the elderly.
