Claire Newton

Working alongside Chris Gardiner, Stephanie Pratt and their teams in our Dundee office, Claire is a Legal Director in our Private Client team.

Claire specialises in all aspects of estate administration, supporting individuals and families through both testate and intestate executries. She also advises clients on inheritance tax and obtaining Confirmation (Scottish probate). Claire has a particular interest in the Scottish forced heirship rules (Legal Rights). 

Claire takes a holistic and pragmatic approach to every estate, focusing on helping clients navigate the process calmly and with confidence. She values building lasting relationships and is committed to supporting clients at what is often a very difficult time.

Alongside her practice, Claire has contributed to the development of the next generation of private client lawyers. She previously tutored for several years on the core Private Client course of the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Dundee and served as an external examiner on the equivalent course at the University of Edinburgh.

Claire is also a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and a Notary Public.
