Thorntons enhances Dundee offering with lateral hires

Leading Scottish law firm Thorntons has strengthened its commercial real estate, residential conveyancing and private client offering in Dundee after recruiting nine new faces.

Chris Gardiner

Chris specialises in advising UK based and international individuals and families on tax efficient estate planning. 

Chris’ clients are often entrepreneurs and business owners or families who hold a significant asset base. He co-founded Thorntons International Families Group and is often instructed as part of a multi-jurisdictional team of advisors to provide holistic and practical estate planning advice. 

Ross Cargill

Based in our St Andrews office, Ross works with Partner, Rachel Anderson. He acts for individuals, couples, and families on a range of Private Client matters including Wills, Powers of Attorney, Executries (Testate and Intestate) and Inheritance Tax Planning. Ross has a particular focus on high net worth clients with family businesses looking to plan for the future. 

He adopts a pragmatic approach for his clients and is recognised for his understanding and empathetic nature.

Stacey Culloch

Based in Arbroath, Stacey is a Senior Solicitor in our busy Private client team. She advises individuals and families on a range of issues including the drafting of Wills, Powers of Attorney, Executries, inheritance tax planning, and asset protection. 

Stacey is a notary public and her considered and sensitive approach is welcomed by many clients and has resulted in her client base and reputation growing across Angus.

Record £62k sum raised for Cash for Kids

Scotland’s leading full service law firm Thorntons has donated £62,000 to Cash for Kids through its annual Charity Wills month, thanks to generous clients.

The initiative runs throughout September each year and applies to new or updated Wills written during the month. The firm does not charge a fee but instead asks clients to make an equivalent donation to Cash for Kids.

Hannah Dossett

An Associate and Notary Public in the Private Client team in Edinburgh, Hannah advises individuals and families on planning for their future. Hannah is passionate about client care and can assist with a range of matters including Executries, the setting up of Trusts, the drafting of Wills and Powers of Attorney, Inheritance Tax Planning and Asset Protection.

Hannah graduated from the University of Dundee and gained merits in Private Client and Advanced Private Client during her studies for the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. 

Susan Duff

Susan is a longstanding and highly respected member of the Private Client team in Fife.

She advises clients on a broad range of legal matters including Wills, executries, asset protection, Capital Taxes, the establishment and administration of Trusts, and Powers of Attorney.

Sue Arrowsmith Rodger

Sue is a Legal Director in our private client team and has recently become our private client Professional Support Lawyer.  In this new role, Sue is supporting the partners of the Private Client team with several strategic projects, to improve the client experience and make our Thorntons colleagues’ workflow more streamlined and efficient.  Sue also helps plan and deliver training programmes to the legal staff, as well as providing briefings on new legislation.  She also undertakes legal research tasks that are pertinent to our current client cases.

Stuart Mackie

Stuart is a key member of our Private Client team in Dundee and Angus. He has a broad experience base and is well placed to advise individuals, families and corporate clients on a range of matters.

Stephanie Pratt

Stephanie is a highly regarded Private Client Solicitor with over 12 years’ experience advising individuals, families and trustees across Dundee, Perthshire and rural Scotland. She is a key member of the department, heading up the private Client Trust Administration and Compliance team.
