Aimee Young

Working alongside Partners Anne McKeown and Stuart Mackie, Aimee is a Solicitor in the Private Client team. Aimee is primarily based in Forfar, however she works across all three of our Angus offices.

Aimee advises on a wide range of Private Client matters including Executries, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Trusts, legal rights issues and care cost planning. She acts for clients from all backgrounds and circumstances but she is particularly experienced in dealing with the elderly and the vulnerable.

Millie Griffiths

Millie is a Senior Solicitor in our Private Client team.  She advises on the administration of a wide range of executry estates and also acts for clients who wish to prepare or update their affairs relating to Wills and Powers of Attorney.

She specialises in executries, including those more complex cases subject to inheritance tax and other general private client work.

Millie prides herself in being approachable and she looks to build and develop a positive rapport with each of her clients.

Thorntons promotes three new partners for 2023

Three legal directors at leading full-service Scottish law firm Thorntons have started 2023 in their new roles as Partners.

Corah Franco

Corah is an experienced member of the Private Client team known for her professional expertise and friendly, approachable manner. She advises UK based individuals, couples and families on a broad range of estate planning matters including the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney. Corah is particularly skilled in advising family business owners with both their personal and business succession planning, helping them preserve their wealth across generations.

Duncan Shaw

Duncan is a Senior Solicitor in our Private Client team. Based in Cupar, Duncan assists families and individual clients of all ages in preparing Wills and Powers of Attorney. He also advises on Trust and Estates matters.

Duncan is well known for his prompt response and focus on client care, as well as his understanding of each client’s individual needs.

Andrew Bird

Andrew is Solicitor in our Private Client team in Edinburgh.  Working alongside Stephanie Pratt, Andrew advises individual and families on a range of Private Client matters including Wills, Powers of Attorney and Executries. He is well known by his clients for his calm and understanding nature.

Andrew qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and also has experience representing clients in personal injury claims. He is an affiliate member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and has completed the STEP Diploma in Trusts and Estates.

Carly Gibson

Carlene specialises in Private Client Work, particularly succession planning and the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney.  She also deals with and guides clients through the administration of Executry estates.

Carlene completed an undergraduate Joint Honours Degree in Geography and Social Anthropology in 2006 before undertaking the graduate entry Law Degree and Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh.

Hannah Fitzgibbon

A member of the Private Client team in Edinburgh, Hannah advises individuals and families on the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney. In addition, Hannah deals with executry administration and all aspects of estate planning.

Hannah is a full member of STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and is also a Notary Public.

Moira McInnes

Moira is a Senior Associate in the Private Client team, specialising in Wills, executry administration, tax planning, Trust creation and administration, Powers of Attorney and welfare and finance for the elderly.

Moira is a full member of STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), having gained the Diploma in Trusts and Estate with Distinction. In recent years, Moira has been a tutor in Private Client on the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh.

James Brogan

With over 15 years’ experience, James is a Legal Director in the Private Client team in Edinburgh.  He advises individuals and families on a wide range of issues including Wills, Powers of Attorney, Executries, Inheritance Tax Planning and asset protection.
