In our view, your staff can be the best form of defence in information security. It is therefore important that you provide adequate training as part of a wider General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and data protection awareness programme to ensure your staff have an appropriate level of knowledge of data protection and how it impacts the processing activities of your organisation.
How Thorntons can help
Our Data Protection and Information Security Team has a vast amount of experience in delivering training to clients across the UK. We can run our GDPR training courses on-site at your organisation and also hold sessions at our own offices across Scotland, including Dundee, Edinburgh, St Andrews and Perth.
Our basic training package:
includes generic training sessions providing a one-hour general overview of GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and other data protection laws to key members of staff and what it means for them on a practical level. It is delivered in a lecture lecture-style format and also includes generic GDPR documentation that can be issued to staff, serving as a handy go-to guide. The cost for this is £400 plus VAT, plus travel time if not held at our office.
Our bespoke training packages:
are tailored to client requirements. These can be delivered in as a lecture, workshop or in another format to suit client preferences. We have experience of designing various bespoke packages, each time tailoring them to the client’s operating environment and sector. Example topics may include data protection and marketing rules for the marketing and sales team; data protection for the IT or HR team; how data protection impacts researchers; data protection in the dental sector; data protection for boards of management and so on. Costs for bespoke training packages vary according to client requirements.
