Overseas investors and entrepreneurs looking to invest in or start a business in the UK need to ensure they meet UK regulations and visa and nationality application requirements.
There are considerable changes to these two visa routes with the UK Government announcing that the Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) route will be closed to new applicants from 6th July 2019 and be replaced by the Start-up category which will be an expanded version of the Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) category. The Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) visa will be replaced by the Innovator visa from 29th March 2019.
Any applicant wishing to apply for the Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) visa must meet the relevant requirements and submit the application by 5th July 2019 and applicants wishing to apply for the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) visa must meet the current eligibility requirements for this visa application to be submitted by 28th March 2019.
The Immigration Rules are to be amended to reflect significant changes to the Tier 1 (Investor) route from 29th March 2019.
