Victoria is an Associate in our Intellectual Property team in Edinburgh.

Working alongside Partner, Liam McMonagle, Victoria advises individuals, public sector organisations and businesses on a range of intellectual property issues, as well as advise on research collaborations and commercial contracts.

Prior to joining Thorntons, Victoria had experience working with Higher Education Institutes having joined from the University of Glasgow in-house contracts team. She is experienced in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contacts for the medical, veterinary and life sciences sector including some experience working on the contractual arrangements for commercially-funded clinical trials. She is particularly interested in commercial licensing of intellectual property and has also had some experience working on contracts relating to data protection and procurement.

Before working at the University of Glasgow, she also spent a year working as a legal assistant for the Scottish Law Commission where she gained a good working knowledge of some aspects of consumer and insurance law.

Victoria enjoys building good professional relationships with her clients and strives to provide a high level of client care, taking into account the specific needs of each individual. She has particularly good attention to detail in her contract drafting.

In 2010, Victoria jointly won the Balfour Prize for Commercial Law during her undergraduate degree.
