Richard is a Legal Director in our Commercial Property team.
Working alongside Aimee Gibbons, Richard advises a variety of clients including developers, investors, owner/occupiers and tenants on a wide range of commercial property matters. He is based in Glasgow but acts for clients right across Scotland.
He has over 25 years’ experience across all areas of commercial property including development, investment, corporate support and leasing. His development experience includes acting for housebuilders and landowners on all aspects of site acquisitions and sales, option/overage agreements and site set up including Deeds of Conditions as well as Promotion Agreement and subsequent site disposals for land promoters.
Richard has particular interest and experience in the healthcare sector, principally the care home and primary care sectors. Within the care home sector, he has acted for operators, investors and funders. He has considerable experience in the real estate aspects of business acquisitions and sales, site acquisition/sales (including sale and leasebacks), leasing (both for landlords and tenants), funding (for funders and borrowers) and general property management work. Within the primary care sector, he is experienced in acting for landlords and developers of medical centres having been involved in acquisitions, sale and leasebacks, lease renewals and general property management work. He also has experience in the dental and pharmacy sectors.
Richard is also experienced in acting for insolvency practitioners in the property aspects of administrations and liquidations including short term licenses and the sale of commercial, residential and rural property. He has also acted for both public and private sector clients within the student accommodation, hotel and transport sectors.
Richard aims to be pragmatic and pro-active and looks beyond the technical issues to see the bigger picture. He is committed to achieving the best possible result for his clients. Richard also has a strong network of contacts, both within Scotland and UK-wide.
