As chief marketing officer at Thorntons, Jo leads the firm’s strategic marketing, brand positioning, and business development efforts, ensuring Thorntons remains a trusted legal partner for life and business.
With over 20 years of experience in professional services, Jo is a commercially minded, results-driven leader. She works closely with the firm’s leadership, legal teams, and business services functions to develop and implement strategies that drive sustainable growth, enrich client relationships, and differentiate Thorntons in a competitive market.
Having operated at senior management level for several global organisations, including Clifford Chance, CMS and Morrison Foerster, she brings strategic experience in business development and client engagement. As Chief Marketing Officer she oversees integrated marketing communications to enhance Thorntons’ strategic sector focused strategy. Digital and content marketing, brand positioning and storytelling, sponsorships, crisis communications and public relations also full under her remit.
Jo is known for her ability to simplify complex topics, foster collaboration, and create high-energy environments that encourage innovation and problem-solving. A strong advocate for data-driven decision making, Jo ensures that all marketing and business development initiatives are aligned with the firm’s commercial objectives.
Jo holds a diploma in legal practice management, and a postgraduate diploma in European marketing and languages
Outside of work, Jo is passionate about supporting animal therapy and special educational needs advocacy. She is a is a PAT trainer (Pets as Therapy) and she is also an accredited IPSEA (Independent Parental Special Education Advice) tribunal support officer for parents and children with special needs.
