The firm placed fifth in Scotland on a client advocacy measure drawn from nearly 9,000 responses to Legal 500's annual client research.
Thorntons, one of Scotland's largest independent law firms, has been named as one of the five most recommended law firms in Scotland in new client research published by Legal 500. The ranking measures how likely clients are to recommend their firm, and placed Thorntons in the top half of the 10 most highly rated firms across the country.
The rankings are based on net promoter score; a widely used measure of client satisfaction that reflects how strongly clients advocate for a business. Legal 500 calculated the scores from a single question in its annual research, asking clients how likely they would be to recommend their firm from zero to 10.
The Scotland analysis draws on nearly 9,000 client responses, offering a detailed view of the firms most highly regarded by the businesses and individuals who instruct them.
The list features many of Scotland's leading firms, with Thorntons placing fifth alongside names including Shepherd and Wedderburn, Brodies and CMS. Because the score reflects client recommendation alone, rather than firm size or revenue, the result places Thorntons ahead of several larger firms on this measure.
