Independent full-service law firm Thorntons is assuming responsibility for the wills, powers of attorney and title deeds of Young Robertson & Co, based in Caithness, as its partners move towards retirement. The agreement, effective from today, will ensure continuity of service for clients in the region as Young Robertson & Co winds down its practice.
The arrangement will also give Young Robertson & Co's clients access to Thorntons’ wider range of legal services. As one of Scotland’s largest legal firms, with offices across Scotland including Inverness and Aberdeen, Thorntons’ specialisms include property, planning, farming, renewables and a comprehensive private client practice, with expertise in wills, trusts, powers of attorney, executry administration and succession planning.
Elaine Robertson of Young Robertson & Co, has joined Thorntons as a consultant, ensuring that clients retain a familiar and trusted point of contact. Thorntons’ own team, including colleagues with close ties to Caithness, are also available to meet clients.
Unless Young Robertson & Co clients indicate otherwise, their documents will be passed securely to Thorntons, where they will be held free of charge. The firm has stressed its commitment to safeguarding transferred files.
