We are looking to recruit 4 Trainee Solicitors to begin their traineeship with us in June 2015, and also up to 6 trainees to join us in June 2016.
At Thorntons, we believe we can provide the best foundation upon which to build your legal career. We are the largest legal firm in Tayside and one of the largest full service firms in the East of Scotland. We deliver innovative solutions for clients supported by the highest level of service delivery. As a result, we can promise you a challenging and rewarding two year traineeship. Our Trainees are key to the future success of Thorntons and our vision to continue to be one of Scotland's most forward thinking legal firms.
We have developed our trainee programme over many years and believe, that due to our diverse range of clients and work types, we can offer one of the most comprehensive traineeships in Scotland. Trainees are given the opportunity to gain experience in any of our offices in Dundee, Perth, Edinburgh, Fife, Arbroath or Forfar, within our litigation, private client, conveyancing and business law departments. Within these departments you will have exposure to our specialist teams, for example personal injury, family law, corporate, IP, media, agriculture and commercial property.
We hope our trainees will become our solicitors of the future, so we look for the qualities expected of a legal professional, able to maintain the standard of service we provide to our clients. We look for individuals who enjoy a challenge, have an enquiring mind and demonstrate excellent communication skills. Successfully working as part of a team and meeting tight deadlines is also vital to the role.
From day one, our trainees are important members of the team and will carry out a variety of essential duties including dealing directly with clients, supporting other fee earners, and undertaking research. In return we will support and develop your technical and personal skills to set you on the right path for your career in law.
By the time you commence your traineeship, you are required to possess your Diploma in Legal Practice, in addition to a Degree in Scots Law, or relevant qualification in accordance with The Law Society of Scotland requirements.
