Scottish based law firm Thorntons Solicitors have welcomed moves by the UK government to open new visa application centres in China and Algeria.
The new and upgraded centres in Beijing and Algiers are expected to host thousands of people looking to obtain visas to come to the UK for holidays, studies, business and a multitude of other reasons.
Jamie Kerr, Thorntons' immigration law Partner said:
"Beijing and Algiers may seem a long way away from our offices in Scotland, though the reality is that our clients will actually benefit from the new application centres. Having worked closely with the Chinese and Algerian communities in Scotland for a number of years now, I know firsthand the difficulties people can encounter when applying for visas from abroad. My hope is that the new centres will be able to deal with visa applications quicker and will lead to increased trade between our respective countries."
China now has 11 UK visa application centres situated in Beijing, Chongqing, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Jinan, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Shenzhen and Wuhan whilst Algiers is the only centre in Algeria. Anyone from these countries who requires to come to the UK needs to first obtain a visa prior to travelling.
Anyone who requires assistance or more information about applying for a British visa can obtain further advice from Jamie Kerr.
