Internal career development encouraged as law firm promotes new partner

Leading Scottish law firm Thorntons started the New Year by appointing a new partner for its Dundee operation, amid an exciting planning period of fresh investment.

Lorna Christine, from Dunfermline, has been an associate within Thorntons’ Private Client Department for two years and has this month been promoted to Partner.

Specialising in Private Client work since 2003 and with a keen interest in Trusts, Lorna can give dependable advice on wills, inheritance tax, powers of attorney and succession planning as well as administration of estates. Lorna regularly reaches out to local community groups advising on care home planning and the benefits of having a will in place.

Lorna recently completed a STEP (Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners) Diploma and supports higher education at the University of Dundee as a module organiser and tutor on its Advanced Private Client Course on the Diploma in Legal Practice.

Craig Nicol, joint Managing Partner at Thorntons, said: “We see it as vital to promote from within and to continue to develop our own talent. It provides the motivation for our colleagues to work hard for clients and the firm.

“We are delighted to start 2018 by making Lorna a new partner in our Dundee office and we will continue to invest in training and internal development of our people going forward.”
