Ollie is a Solicitor in Thorntons' Corporate Ventures and Innovation team in Edinburgh. Working alongside Partner, Alistair Lang, Ollie largely works with companies in the science, technology and environmental sectors, advising early stage, high growth companies that are seeking investment. He also advises start-up companies, spinouts and more established businesses on general corporate matters, corporate governance, sales, purchases and share option schemes.
Ollie has a genuine passion for business and enjoys problem solving. He has a particular interest in working with start-ups and early stage businesses that are developing innovative solutions to existing problems and challenges. He understands that retaining and incentivising employees in the early stages of business is increasingly difficult so he enjoys exploring the ways in which a business can encourage and motivate its workforce.
Ollie understands and respects his client’s expectations and will always endeavour to get the job done efficiently and to a high standard. He appreciates that it is also key to understand how business works so he can form good relationships with business leaders.
Outside of the office, Ollie is a Director of a clothing business which he established in 2018. In 2022, he produced clothing in support of charitable initiatives and has raised money for charities such as the DEC in Ukraine.
