Dundee and Angus Businesses Confident as Chamber of Commerce Opens

Business and community leaders will join forces with John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, in Dundee on Monday 10 March to officially open the office of the revitalised Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce.

Backed by Tayside’s largest law firm, Thorntons Solicitors, the Chamber’s official opening ceremony will celebrate the growing confidence of business in Dundee and Angus and look forward to future success.

A commemorative plaque will be unveiled by Mr Swinney at 8:45-9am after breakfast and a round table discussion with senior representatives from the Chamber.

Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce aims to forge strong links with and between businesses in the area, provide a forum for discussion and present ideas for change and improvement to local and national government.

Gary Langlands, President of Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce said: “Today’s official opening ceremony is a significant milestone for the Chamber and we are delighted that John Swinney has agreed to join us on this special occasion. We are very grateful to him for agreeing to meet the Directors and Platinum members.  Constructive dialogue with business will be vital if the Scottish Government is going to achieve its economic growth targets.  Because of its growing membership and its representation across so many industrial and commercial sectors, Dundee & Angus Chamber is the ideal business organisation to lead the dialogue in this area.”

Craig Nicol, head of Thorntons’ business law department added: “Thorntons are delighted to be able to support Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce’s official opening.  As advisers to businesses across the Chamber’s membership area we can see that there is a growing need to communicate the challenges and successes that are happening locally and any forum that can help achieve that can only be encouraged.
