Redundancy

Dealing with redundancy is not a pleasant task and sometimes emotions can cloud judgement or in a bid to resolve matters quickly for all concerned, procedures may be rushed and due process not followed.

Should you be in the position where it becomes apparent that redundancies are necessary, there are clear guidelines which must be followed to ensure that this is done in a fair manner and in accordance with statutory procedures. Failure to follow these guidelines can, and very often does, result in action by the former employee through an Employment Tribunal.

You may also find yourself in the unhappy position of having to dismiss someone on the grounds of misconduct, incompetence or ill health. Again this must not be done in haste and certain steps must be taken to ensure that the employee has been treated fairly.

Our employment lawyers are well equipped to advise clients on all aspects of redundancy, dismissal and associated procedures andact for many employers, large and small, across a range of sectors.
