New Solicitor Advocate for Thorntons

A senior litigation solicitor at Tayside's leading legal firm has been recognised by the Law Society as a solicitor advocate.

Thorntons' Linda Fyffe will take an oath at the Court of Session in Edinburgh on 6th May which will give her rights of audience in the Supreme Courts in Scotland in respect of civil cases, including the Court of Session and House of Lords.

An experienced commercial litigation lawyer, Linda's work spans a diverse range of cases including contractual disputes, property disputes, actions for payment and insolvency work.

The former Carnoustie High School pupil and Strathclyde University graduate trained in Dundee qualifying as a solicitor in 1996. After eight years away, she returned to the city in 2008 to join Thorntons' commercial litigation team.

Linda's appointment by the Law Society will give clients based in Tayside the opportunity to consult with her, through an instructing solicitor, more readily on Court of Session actions without incurring the time and expense of having to travel to Edinburgh - where the vast majority of solicitor advocates are based.

Scott Milne, head of Thorntons' litigation department, said: "We are delighted to announce Linda's new qualification. She is an extremely talented litigator and her appointment as a solicitor advocate will greatly enhance the services we provide to our clients."
