A director at Tayside's leading legal firm has been nominated for a prestigious accolade at this year's HR Network Scotland Awards.
Helen Archibald, director of HR at Thorntons Solicitors, has been shortlisted in the HR Director of the Year category at the national awards to be announced at the Hilton Glasgow on the 20th November.
Helen joined Thorntons in 2004 and has been instrumental in the establishment and development of the firm's employee engagement programme, The Thorntons' Way.
Under her guidance, the firm has seen a six per cent decrease in employee turnover over the past three years.
She is also the first non-partner to be invited to join Thorntons' Chairman's Committee, the firm's strategy committee, which has only four invited members.
The HR Network Scotland awards were introduced in 2007, designed to recognise achievements from the graduate level to outstanding contribution to Scottish HR.
The HR Director of the Year Award aims to reward HR department leaders whose departments have made a significant contribution to the respective business and its strategy, as well as encouraging thorough CPD throughout their department.
Helen's work with Thorntons solicitors has already seen the firm reaching the final six in the
UK-wide TargetJobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards, in recognition of its outstanding contribution to graduate recruitment.
Jack Robertson, chairman of Thorntons, said: "Helen's efforts have been wholeheartedly invested into the development of policies and procedures at Thorntons, and demonstrated through chairing various groups, leading activities firm-wide, advising and offering coaching to managers and other key staff.
"To be shortlisted for the HR Director of the year award is a fantastic reflection of Helen's charisma which has positively infiltrated across the organisation, and her innovative approach to creating policies which not only contribute significantly to promoting best practice at Thorntons, but are also designed to bring out the best in each individual across our 400-strong team."
