Prize winners from Thorntons' free information day

Four lucky locals celebrated after scooping the top prizes at an information day held to give vital information to the elderly about care, financial and social services.

Tayside's leading legal firm Thorntons presented Christine Johnston and Nicola Glennie, on behalf of her mother, with luxury food hampers donated by Inchture-based Taylor's Regional Foods, and Malcolm Watt scooped a voucher donated by Specsavers to support the event.Kath Spence received a bottle of whisky from Allardyce Healthcare and Edna Duncan received a bottle of champagne.

Thorntons hosted the free information day in support of the government's Full of Life initiative - a
UK-wide programme of activity to raise the profile of the issues surrounding older people and highlight important information on how to protect assets, access to care services, benefit entitlement and being safe at home.

Sarah Statham, eldercare assistant at Thorntons Solicitors, said: "Many older people in the community are unaware of the many services available to them to take the hassle out of their daily lives, so we were keen to hold a fundraising information day to provide advice on issues about which they were concerned."

Amy Swan, Policy Officer for Help the Aged, added: "We are extremely grateful that Thorntons has contributed to raising Help the Aged to raise vital funds for disadvantaged older people on UK Older People's Day."
