Thorntons advises employers on rules of tackling tricky situations

Tayside's leading legal firm will be advising employers on how to deal with tricky situations in the workplace in accordance with recent changes in the law.

Representatives from businesses across Tayside will gather at seminars on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 May at the firm's Dundee headquarters designed to illustrate how to effectively handle disciplinary, dismissal and grievance procedures following legislation changes which came into effect on 6 April.

As part of a series of free breakfast sessions, Thorntons' specialist team will give an overview of the new legislation and how it affects employers and HR managers.

Noele McClelland, partner and head of Thorntons' employment law team, said: "One of the difficult aspects of dealing with employment issues is putting the law into practice – knowing how to handle things appropriately in compliance with legal requirements and the ACAS Code of Practice.

"We will re-create a live example of a situation and illustrate effective handling performance management from which we hope that businesses who attend will be able to learn from – and at the same time show off the acting skills of some of the employment team."
