Collaborative working generates success for Digital Spark partners

The forthcoming Digital Spark conference in Dundee has demonstrated the powerful impact that collaboration between like-minded partners can have. Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce, the University of Abertay Dundee and Thorntons Solicitors have worked together on a key part of the Digital Spark programme. As a result of this collaboration, local companies can engage with the digital technology businesses that are vital to their own long-term competitiveness, and the prosperity of the region. Nearly 150 local companies and technology innovators will be able to meet each other during the Digital Spark reception, which takes place at the McManus Galleries on the 29th of June.

Liam McMonagle, Intellectual Property Partner at Thorntons, who are sponsors of the drinks reception and are also presenting at the conference, stated: "Digital Spark offers those working in the digital sector internationally and locally a great opportunity to get together and share knowledge to grow their businesses. As advisers to many companies in this sector and local businesses too, we are delighted to help bring these two groups together for what will hopefully be, an enjoyable and useful event.

Digital Spark organiser Dr Margaret Hartnett, who is also Head of Research, Enterprise and Innovation Services at Abertay University, said: "We are delighted to be partnering with DACC and Thorntons on what promises to be a great evening in splendid surroundings. The fact that a chamber of commerce, a leading law firm and a university have come together to stage this reception encapsulates what Digital Spark is all about: breaking down barriers between different professions and barriers to the spread of knowledge about IP."
