Thorntons launches charity Wills month in aid of Cash For Kids
Tayside's leading legal firm has launched a fundraising campaign to raise awareness of the importance of having an up to date Will in place.
During Thorntons' Charity Wills Month in November, the firm will waive their fee for anyone wishing to
make or update a Will throughout the month and ask instead that they make a donation to Cash For Kids, the Radio Tay listeners' charity which helps children and young people across Tayside.
Cash for Kids helps a wide variety of causes from buying specialist equipment for children with physical disabilities, respite for families with a chronically ill child to helping fund play schemes and breakfast clubs.
Thorntons and their clients have been raising money for Cash For Kids (formerly Caring for Kids) for more than a decade and over £50,000 has been through Charity Wills since the first campaign in 1997.
Malcolm Farquhar, Partner at Thorntons, said: "There are a number of complicated and unnecessary problems that can arise as a result of not having a Will in place regardless of your age, and there are a lot of common misconceptions about what happens to possessions, finances and property after death if the appropriate steps have not been taken.
"Thorntons has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Cash For Kids in Tayside, and we hope that people will take the opportunity to seek legal advice on having a Will in place while supporting our campaign raising money for an extremely deserving local cause."
Lynda Curran, Cash For Kids fundraising Co-ordinator, added: "The support of Thorntons over the years has enabled us to help thousands of local children. Charity Wills month is unique in that it raises awareness of this important legal issue and helps the children in our area at the same time. We would urge people to contact their local Thorntons office to find out more."
