Leading law firm Thorntons Solicitors has strengthened its Land and Rural Business team with the appointment of a new partner.
Chris Lindley, formerly an associate at the firm, has taken up the new role from 1 January 2011 and will continue to head-up the firm's specialist agricultural security team.
His extensive experience includes dealing with commercial and residential conveyances, overage and claw back arrangements, mobile phone mast transactions and estate break-ups, acting on behalf of both estate owners and tenant farmers. Very recently he was instrumental in assisting a rural bank to formulate its security policy in respect of renewables projects.
His success and growing reputation as a leading name within the sector has ensured Chris has become a key member of the firm's Land and Rural Business team. Based in the firm's Perth offices, Chris is recommended as a Leader in his Field by Chambers and Partners law directory.
Joining Thorntons in March 2003, Chris developed within the firm not only in dealing with the day to day requirements of clients but also as the instrumental member in bringing together Thorntons' in-house band, The Full Tin Tin, which plays gigs across the country in aid of charity.
He said: "Thorntons has an exciting and diverse Land and Rural Business team dealing with clients all across Scotland in a variety of individual industries. Throughout my time with the firm I have been fortunate enough to work with a selection of very gifted colleagues and many wonderful clients and I am thrilled to become a partner."
Liz Barr, partner in the Land and Rural Business team, said: "Chris has shown in the last seven years that he is more than prepared to go above and beyond the call of duty on behalf of his clients. We're delighted to have him take on a bigger role within our team."
Chris will advise both commercial and non-commercial clients on all aspects of land and rural business law.
