Radio Tay listeners’ charity Caring for Kids is celebrating a record breaking cash boost – thanks to well known solicitors Thorntons and their clients.
Throughout November last year, the Tayside legal firm didn’t charge its clients for making or updating a Will, asking instead that a nominal donation was made to the popular children’s charity.
Thorntons charity Wills campaign raised £12,100 and today (Thursday March 16th 2006) the firm’s Managing Partner Nick Barclay presented a cheque to Radio Tay Managing Director and Caring for Kids Trustee Ally Ballingall.
It’s the highest total ever raised from a charity Wills initiative in Tayside by Thorntons who are also the main sponsors of Caring for Kids.
“We pledged to waive our fees for everyone who came to us in November to make a Will or update an existing Will and the response from our clients was absolutely phenomenal,” said Nick Barclay.
“People from Dundee, Perth and Angus took advantage of the opportunity to put their affairs in order and help an extremely worthy cause at the same time. We’re very proud of our clients and delighted the campaign in aid of Caring for Kids proved so successful.”
Ally Ballingall said : “We have a great partnership with Thorntons as sponsors of Caring for Kids and this extra donation will make a real difference to all the worthy causes, families and individuals who we aim to help.
“To have raised over £12,000 in a month is a fantastic achievement.”
In 2004/2005, Caring for Kids in association with Thorntons raised £164,000, helping over 20,000 children in Tay Territory.
Thorntons have fostered close links with Caring for Kids over a number of years. In addition to the firm’s five-figure sponsorship and charity Wills campaign, Thorntons staff in Angus, Perth and Dundee have run their own fund raising.
